We had another successful, albeit different, Sawtooth Alpine Kid’s Camp this summer led by kids camp veterans Ryan and Matt. Kids at heart, Ryan and Matt are fun-loving guides with a penchant for turning everything into the world’s most exciting game. On the first day of camp, a forest fire started near the Redfish Lake Road turnoff. The kids were across Redfish Lake at the Transfer Camp, and due to the expected closure of the Redfish Lake Road, they were evacuated by Forest Service personnel. This led to some last minute scrambling, but the next day we successfully shifted the camp to Alpine Lake in Iron Creek, which proved to be a fantastic venue. The kids pioneered new rock climbing routes near the Lake, most of which they named following a chicken theme. In addition to fishing and swimming, they also hiked to one of the most photographed and largest alpine lake in the range – Sawtooth Lake.
Check out the fun!
