Alpine Lake Fishing

The Sawtooths hold many high alpine lakes teeming with cutthroat trout.

Some folks are content hiking to a lake, relaxing on the shore, and taking it all in. For others, water means fishing.

The Sawtooths are packed with over 400 alpine lakes, most containing cuthroat and rainbow trout, but catching one can be tricky with all the distracting scenery! Many excellent fishing lakes can be reached by scenic 4-5 mile hikes. Other destinations are off the beaten path and can only be reached with off-trail travel by adventurous hikers.  Whether young or old, novice or experienced, fly fisher or spin caster, the Sawtooths offer fishing opportunities for everyone.

Alpine lake fishing can be also done as a multi-day backpack trip to reach the truly remote lakes that see few fisherman. Contact us for more details!
