Skylar grew up in Plainfield, NH where he worked as a ski instructor at Whaleback Mt. and spent five months thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. He first came to Sawtooth Mountain Guides on a college course and saw a lifetime of ski adventures in the Sawtooth Range. Skylar is an impassioned AIARE instructor and AMGA Apprentice Ski Guide who loves to bring people into the world of backcountry skiing and ski-mountaineering. He holds a B.S. in Conservation Biology from The College of Idaho, where he earned a scholarship as a jazz drummer, as well as First Team All-American Honors for Freestyle skiing. Skylar lives year-round in Stanley, ID where he volunteers for Sawtooth Search and Rescue and is an Emergency Medical Responder and Treasurer for the Stanley Ambulance Volunteers. When Skylar is not in the mountains you will find him sitting in front of the woodstove in his cabin, with his wife Quincy and their dog Marty.
