Tanner splits his winters between ski guiding for SMG and working for Majestic Heli Ski in Alaska. In the summer he works as a river guide on the Salmon River. Tanner grew up in Pittsfield, Vermont in the middle of the Green Mountains where he spent his time hiking, biking and skiing. He visited the Sawtooths for the first time while in college at the University of Vermont pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Tanner had an engineering internship with Burton Snowboards after graduation before deciding to return to Idaho.
