We (Hatch and Clark) headed up to the yurt on Friday (12/6) for some pre-season projects and maintenance. Hangin’ at the yurt again felt great and got us psyched up for the coming winter…yurt life baby!
Our main objective was to remodel the sauna which had been a victim of a curious bear sometime this past summer. The sauna is back in business and better then ever; ready to soothe your weary muscles after long sweet days touring and ripping the pow in the SAWS! The yurt is also stocked and ready to roll…now all we need is more snow.
On Monday morning we awoke to about 3 inches of new fluff. After doing a bit of poking around we found about 1.5 feet (fairly supportable and consolidated) of snow on average at the bottom of the main runs…not a bad base really All we need is another foot and the skiing will be IN.
SMG has a busy winter planned with avalanche classes, guiding, and of course, lots of skiing. Make sure to check in for condition updates and more trip reports all winter long. To help you get the early season stoke going the last 4 shots are from last winter:
