December delivered the goods and most mountain weather stations are showing 120-130% of average snowfall. Contrast that to last season’s dismal start, and it seems like we have twice our normal snow! The storms have been coming in consistently, and it’s a treat to be starting the season without any deep-lurking snowpack instabilities. Powder conditions peaked when Santa dropped a foot of light snow down the chimney on Christmas Eve, and while the winds blew hard in Sun Valley, the mountains around Galena Summit and further north were spared the gale.
Happy Holidays from all of us at Sawtooth Mountain Guides! We hope you’ve been enjoying the powder, and it’s not too late if you haven’t…
