Well, its been another busy month with avalanche education. We’ve had our regular scheduled Level 1 courses, and mixed in between several custom courses. In fact, as I sit here and write this, we are preparing for a custom training tomorrow, and another custom course next week! Trip reports to come…
Our avalanche 1 courses had a nice mix of skiers and splitboarders, and a nice mix of conditions too. During 1 we had stable snow, but the next week we had new snow and a warm up, which spiked up avalanche conditions. On our valley course we got to check out and compare the snowpacks from Galena Pass to Banner Summit, not far apart, but certainly 2 entirely different zones. Overall we had good examples of why we look at the layering of the snowpack, but also pay attention to obvious signs of instabilities and trends. Thanks guys check back soon!
