This is how you do it!Our 16 and 20 foot yurts provide a warm and cozy base for your ski explorations. Handcrafted by SMG founder Kirk Bachman and installed in 1986, these yurts were some of the first used in North America as a backcountry skiing shelter. The hut is fully stocked with warm woodstoves, kitchen and cooking supplies, and bunk beds – everything you need for a comfortable stay. In the evening, swap tales from the day over a refreshing beverage and hearty dinner, then soothe your tired muscles in the sauna. In the morning, grab a cup of coffee, make breakfast, and it’s out the door to do it again!It’s a 5 mile ski into the hut with a vertical gain of 1600 feet. The route follows a summer hiking trail and there are no snowmobiles allowed.
