Intro to Multi-Pitch Trad Climbing

The perfect course for newer rock climbers looking ahead to their first trad lead.

Our Intro to Multi-Pitch Trad Climbing Course at the City of Rocks is the perfect course sport climbers looking towards their first trad lead or for experienced leaders seeking valuable knowledge often overlooked by recreational climbers.

The format includes demo/practice mini-clinics followed by guided modeling, mock leads, and actual leads. After covering gear placement, anchor building, and multi-pitch belay management, instructors will follow routes or ascend adjacent fixed lines to provide coaching and assess protection. By the end of the course, participants will have done their own lead or acquire the skills to confidently do so outside of the class.
