Galena Pass/Sun Valley Area

A number of options for all ability levels are accessible as day tours from Galena Summit, which is convenient from the Ketchum and Sun Valley area, and provides some of the best access. Tours lead to great views of the Boulder, Smokey, White Cloud and Sawtooth Mountains. Ridges drop way to glades, chutes or beautiful sub-ridge runs.
Galena Pass is around half way between Stanley and Ketchum, being about forty minutes from Stanley and thirty minutes from Ketchum. On your way back to Sun Valley stop by the Galena Lodge after a day of touring for a beer or hot drink…
Copper Mountain/Cape Horn
Copper Mountain offers glades, paths and even steeper chute skiing.
To the west and north of Stanley is one of central Idaho’s secret snowbelts, where finding powder is the norm rather than the exception.
The standard route of Copper Mt. has long ejoyable glade runs, which always have excellent snow. The North Side of Copper offers more advanced steep skiing, including chutes and bowls. With a full-day and a sense of adventure one can explore the Copper mountain/Cape Horn area which is the headwaters of the famed Middle Fork of the Salmon.
